Technical principle is both the basis of technique and the origin of tactical thought.

Without an understanding of principle, there is no basis for objective comparison or tactical analysis. An analysis of principle and tactics begins with an understanding of contact.

? What is the Essence and Evolution of Contact?

1.) One-Dimensional point & line striking technique
2.) Two-Dimensional cross & plane crossing technique
3.) Three-Dimensional spiral crossed technique

? What is a Direct Attack Method?

"Direct" – Straight from one point to another
"Attack" – To act with intent to injure

The Direct Attack Method consists of point & line technique. Direct Attack systems are limited to repetition of one-dimensional striking. As Direct technique by definition "ends as a line," it can only attack and then return. Without the ability to change, such technique cannot convert between offense and defense. Therefore the tactics of direct attack are limited to a single choice between offense and defense - "hit or be hit."

The Indirect Capture Method aims at a unity of defense and offense through Crossing Technique, a method of addition that forms new structures through contact. With an emphasis on the unification of defense & offense, Indirect Capture systems originate in the practical thinking of Martial Arts, and have a tendency toward combative application.

Grappling is the use of three-dimensional spiral technique for the purposes of throwing and controlling. creating an evolving synergy of defense and offense. Centrifugal action entails sending out and pushing off, while centripetal action entails grasping, holding, embracing, and entanglement.
